Vichy Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation SPF 35 30ml Sand 35

Price: £15.50

Ok so it has been a considerably long time since I last did a blog post, I certainly do have a million and one things to talk about. So in celebration of my return back to blogging, I'm going to kickstart off with a product that I had my eye on for some time and managed to get hold of the other day. So with no further ado...

Enter Vichy Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation!

This foundation promises as follows:

1. High coverage (25% pigments)
2. 16 hour hold
3. Natural, flawless finish
4. SPF 35
5. 24 hour hydration
6. Non sticky greasy formula
7. Comfortable wear
8. Easy application

My verdict:

1. This product lives up to its high coverage claim. You can either cake it on or be sensible and apply a small amount to achieve great results. A little of this product goes a long way.

2. 16 hour hold? Errr no. I'm yet to come across any product that holds onto my skin for that long. You can safely get 6-7 hours worth of wear out of this (NB a quick warning I have combination/oily skin so makeup has a tendency to fly off my face by days' end, this product would probably stay put a great deal more on dry/normal skin).

3. Natural, flawless finish... This depends on application technique plus use of a good primer. I used my Body Shop foundation brush to buff a small amount of the foundation all over my face and it looked  semi-natural. Be warned caking this stuff on in silly amounts will not give you a natural, flawless finish. This is a heavy foundation so go easy on quantity. The clown-look never looked good on anyone.

4. 24 hour hydration.. Not sure whether Vichy are implying that we go straight to sleep with the foundation on or that after removing the foundation we will be left with hydrated skin...hmmmm. Either way I wore the foundation and I had more oil on my skin than my local petrol pump :p.

5. The spf 35 - fantastic. Very happy about this. The higher the spf the more we like.

6. Non sticky/greasy formula. Upon application... it's not greasy. 2 hours later...boy it's greasy. Point 2 above is repeated.

7. Comfortable wear... on oily/combination skin this does not feel that comfortable. It may, however, be different for those with dry/normal skin. Again if you cake it on it will inevitably feel heavy and icky on the face.

8. Easy application... I agree.

Overall this is a good foundation but I am certain that it would work a great deal better on those with dry/normal skin as it can cause somewhat of an oil crisis on combination/oily skin. One thing I would point out is that this foundation only comes in five shades and thus does not cater for all skin colours which is a real shame. I bought shade 35 - Sand as this was the closest equivalent to my MAC NC35 foundations.
