Dr. Andrew Weil Origins Mega Bright
Skin Tone Correcting Serum 30ml
Price: £46.00 (ouch)
Rating: 6/10
Ok,
admittedly I didn’t spend £46.00 on this serum since that’s a big splurge for
me, anyway my sister went to the Origins counter in Debenhams I believe and
picked up two 5ml samples of this stuff.
I don’t wear
foundation everyday so this product was right up my street. Just before I go
into detail about this product my skin is combination skin, it’s relatively
even tone and not really sensitive.Moving on I’ve only tried this product a few times. You only need a tiny bit and it comes out ever so slightly shimmery. I put some on my skin and my skin felt immediately brighter, I mean like a 100-watt-lightbulb brighter.
However the cons far outweigh the pros of this product. In all honesty this product is not something that will dramatically change your skin tone over time. Its functionality is pretty much like a foundation, you put foundation on and your skin looks immediately nicer but once it comes to taking it off you’ve still got the skin you had before. So in a nutshell this product is only good for a day’s worth of wearing. To prolong the temporary brightening look it gives you you must continue putting it on every day.
The other con is just how dear the serum is. You can purchase a 30ml bottle for round about £46.00 or a 50ml for £60.00. It’s a lot of money to part with. I know Clinique do something similar to this and their serum is a fraction of what Origins are charging.
So in conclusion what would I rate this product? 6/10. It does temporarily brighten the skin up and this is pretty cool especially if you’re a minimal daily makeup wearer like me. However if you are expecting a skin tone improvement, this product is only temporary. The subtle shimmer in it is a suspicious giveaway and confirms to an extent that this product is only good for a day’s wear. Finally a culmination of this spells out that because this product does not do what it says on the tin, it is little value for money.
With Beauty Perfecter you can quite comfortably expect that you guys will always get an honest view of the products that I am reviewing but please always feel free to leave comments (good bad or darn ugly) if you’ve had a different experience with any of the products reviewed (cos there’s never a right answer). It’s always good to get the take of others on whatever I’m trying out plus everyone has different skin.
Wish you guys a splendid weekend and best of luck to anyone who like me is in the pupillage applications season (cough) ;).
Lots of love,
Sunny x
