This is a review about Dr.
Organic’s Manuka Honey Shampoo which I purchased at Holland and Barrett in
their buy one get one half price sale about a month back. I purchased it after
reading several good reviews on the Holland and Barrett website. I’m a bit of
an organic products freak particularly in regards to my hair so I am
particularly attracted to sulphate free shampoos (I had a brazilian keratin
hair therapy treatment some time ago which got me in a habit of using sulphate
free shampoos). My hair is long, in medium condition and moderately thick so I
am constantly trying to maintain my hair well. Anyway back to the review.
I have been using this shampoo
for about three weeks now alongside various hair masks (which I will be
reviewing later on). In a nutshell this is what happened to my hair: It turned
to crisp. By crisp I mean the mid lengths and ends felt extremely dry and
brittle despite the usage of five very good hair masks after shampooing.
Initially I began freaking out
thinking I would need to chop off about six inches of my luscious locks, I
crazily applied various hair serums and masks just to try and rectify the
position but nothing worked (I take hair tablets every day to maintain the
condition of my hair within as well) It eventually hit me yesterday that maybe
the issue was with the shampoo.
I then done a trial run where I
washed my hair with Pantene (not a particular fan of this brand) followed by
the use of one of my usual hair masks. I let my hair naturally dry (as usual)
and did not apply any products to my hair after it had dried.
The result? My hair dried silky
smooth. The mid lengths and ends were back to their former glory and life was
back to normal as we know it.
My overall rating of this
shampoo? About 3.5/10. Don’t waste your money on this if your hair is your
crowning glory. The only reason this shampoo even gets a 3.5 is because of the
glorious smell of it but that in itself is not a good enough reason to purchase
the shampoo. I appreciate that this shampoo has organic ingredients in it but
what’s the point if it leaves you with horrible hair feeling like you’ve been
dried out on a desert. You’re better off using a sulphate loaded shampoo such
as the ones in the Pantene range than using this shampoo.
And that would be the end of my
rant about this shampoo. Have any of you guys used this shampoo before? Have
you had different results? Please share your commentsJ. Sunny x (Pssst please keep
checking back on this blog I will be sharing some of my hair secrets and the
life changing power products that I could not live without).
